A very nice condition HELiOS 'D' stamped Luftwaffe WW2 German military watch.
In the front pic of the watch I made sure to shine cross light on it to show the patina on the dial, which is not this noticable under normal lighting. The dial is an original unrefinished dial with original hands.
This HELiOS, being a Luftwaffe issue WW2 German military watch is RARE, with most HELiOS WW2 German military watches being the army 'DH' version rather than this 'D' air force Luftwaffe issue. It is also slightly larger than the army issue versions I've seen.
HELiOS was one of the larger suppliers to Germany of mostly ‘DH’ stamped watches for the German WW2 ground army forces. They made very very few of the ‘D’ Luftwaffe watches.
At 37mm x 39mm including crown, it is larger than most German WW2 military army watches, and larger than HELiOS normal size for the WW2 German army.
The difference between ‘D’ Luftwaffe German Military WW2 watches and ‘DH’ (Dienst Heer) watches for the army were, first, the added letter ‘H’, standing for heer, or army (dienst meaning service).
Second, the ‘DH’ or army watches were required to have a screwback for added water resistance, where the Luftwaffe watches were permitted to have a snapback, though there are screwback Luftwaffe watches as well.
This really nice example of a HELiOS, does have the pressure/snapback and the single ‘D’ stamping on the back. Plus the German language ‘STAHLBODEN’, translated as ‘steel bottom’, stamped in the back as most Swiss made watches made for WW2 German Military watch issuance. And, as stated, this HELiOS Luftwaffe watch is larger than HELiOS' ‘DH’ army watches.
Further, it is in much better condition than most HELiOS German WW2 military watches. For some reason, perhaps because so many were issued to the basic fighting man, most HELiOS (as well as other German WW2 watches) have dials and cases that are roughly worn.
This HELiOS has a very nice condition chromed plated alloy case. Chrome appears to be the norm for the HELiOS German WW2 military watch, I never having seen a steel body HELiOS German WW2 military watch. This chromed alloy case is in about the best condition I’ve found on any HELiOS WW2 German military watch, and compared to most other brands of German WW2 military watch, Swiss or German made.
Note that ‘D’, ‘DH’, ‘DU’ markings were only for Swiss imported watches for military or military related use during WW2. Most German made Luftwaffe, or army watches, had no markings. This has been explained by military watch writers due to German watch production already being under military control, the Reich being in charge of manufacturing, so no need for issue numbers, as with the Swiss imports. Some German Luftwaffe watches later in the war did have a ‘RLM’ marking, but many did not. Some observer watches, chronographs, and other watches also had issue markings, but most of the German made Luftwaffe and army watches did not.
This HELiOS WW2 German military watch is running nicely all functions, though I know not when it’s last been serviced and would abolutely service it if you plan to wear it. It is a hearty watch in good shape with one of the most robust movements ever made, so it should last several lifetimes if taken care of. Also, it is simple and not expensive to service.
The AS 1130 is one of the most revered movements of all times, by A.Schild, and was used by many Swiss brands in the military watches they sent to the WW2 Germans. The AS 1130 (A.Schild 1130 caliber) came to be known as the Wehrmacht caliber or movement for it’s overwhelming use in Swiss made WW2 German issue military watches. As for HELiOS, close to all of their German issue WW2 military watches were this caliber.
Supplied on a new WW2 German style military leather strap.
SHiPPiNG: Our International shipping is FEDEX insured, extremely safe, door to door arrival in 3-5 days. Cost is $75, less than UPS, DHL or any other shipper. If you pay by PAYPAL I must ship this way because PAYPAL requires the safest, insured, door to door (does not go through overseas postal systems) shipping possible.
Alternately, if you pay with WiRE TRANSFER I can ship $45 international insured, but because this is handled by your country’s postal system, there is some added risk of theft/damage. While it is INSURED, regular postal insurance may take months to reimburse, versus weeks with FEDEX.
For the lower shipping cost you will need to use WiRE TRANSFER since this slightly riskier shipping does not allow PAYPAL to offer full seller protection. Personally, I think the quick receipt and near complete safety of FEDEX is worth the extra $30. Plus, banks usually will charge you for wire transfers, though xoom.com costs only $5.

SOLD! THEY GO quick...ON HOLD Here’s one of those rare iconic watches that is a must have. A Gallet Military Chrono! And in must have condition. Including a servicing.
A rare 1960s Valjoux 72 Gallet Military Chrono in an all steel screwback case. Did I mention this is New OLD Stock? Correctimundo! A Gallet Military Chronograph with Valjoux 72 movement, a movement made famous by it’s use in the 40s through 50s Rolex chronographs, prior to Rolex going to a Zenith movement. In fact, the Valjoux 72 in this Gallet Chrono is considered the finest chronograph movement ever, powering the famous Heuer, Breitling and any other top chrono of the 40s through 70s!
But I didn’t have to tell you that, did I.
Because you most likely searched out this Gallet Chrono watch on google since this is one everyone is always looking for. Well, you’ve found it. And, as I often must say with stuff here, it’s a one of a kind, so won’t last long. I have no others. Gallet, by the way, was perhaps the premier maker of Military timepieces, chronos and chronographs of all time, hence the collectibility of anything by the House of Gallet!
This Gallet Chrono is in highly minty condition, a New OLD Stock Gallet chronograph that has no wear on it, but a few very small marks (mostly needing a loupe to see) from storage over 50 years. Still with sticker on the back. This was a Gallet Dealer’s display case watch.
Though this Gallet Chronograph apparently had been kept serviced through the years, possibly for occasional running in the display case, I have had it serviced by our watchmaker, formerly with Rolex for 14 years in their Beverly Hills facility, until Rolex Beverly Hills closed down. The servicing for this Valjoux 72 Gallet Chronograph was done with the highest skill and on the finest equipment in the world (the same Rolex uses for it’s Daytona servicings), and comes with a warranty on the servicing good until July 2010). However, the servicing should last a good 5 years. Just for info, Rolex and Gallet charge in the $600-plus for the very same servicing.
Everything is original, including the MiNT Gallet Chrono dial which has glo numbers that, amazingly, still have a bit of life left in them, but only for a few moments after exposure to light. Which is more than most 50-year-old military dials have. The all steel Gallet case is Stamped on the inside (see pics below) with the Gallet stamp. Operating flawlessly, this Gallet chronograph runs 38mm diameter without the chunky crown, by 44mm lug length...a very big chrono for the time, making this Gallet quite at home with today’s large size watches.
This Gallet chronograph is a superb military timepiece, serviced and ready to go, and comes on a new, nice size classic leather mat finish military style strap. EMail Us to inquire
